Congratulations! You’re officially moved in to your new place in a new city! But don’t relax just yet, there’s still some things to do. Here’s a list of things you shouldn’t forget to do:
- Check moved items for damage.
First thing to do after getting everything unloaded is to check your belongings for any damage. If you find any, make sure to document it and report it to your moving company. - Update your accounts with your new address.
You’ve forwarded your mail, but there are a lot of other accounts you should update with your new address. For example, bank accounts, streaming services, any online shopping accounts, etc. - Be sure to update your insurance policies.
Once you get settled in, be sure to update your insurance policies. Not just with your address, but take a look and see if your new location will offer you any change in payment or coverage. - Get a new driver’s license and tags for your car.
Make sure to find your new local DMV and get your driver’s license. You will also need to see about updating the tags and registration on your car to reflect your new location. Some states also require emissions to be tested on your car before you can register it. Be sure to check the requirements for your area. - Find a good healthcare provider.
Make sure you find a good doctor and other health professionals in your new city. It’s important to have these things lined up before you actually need to use them.
You’ve done it, you moved to a new city! Get settled in. Get everything unpacked, arranged and make sure to check off all the other small items listed above. With all the hard stuff out of the way, you’ll have the opportunity to start to explore and make new friends.
