Maclay Gardens State Park
Roam along one of the largest parks in Florida as you visit the Maclay Gardens State Park in the City of Tallahassee. Enjoy a nice walk or bicycle ride along one of the walking trails.
Go on a horseback ride on one of the trails. Contact the main visitors center for information on how to reserve a ride in Tallahassee, Florida.
Go fishing or canoeing around the park’s many lakes. Boat rentals can be secured at the entrance. Lakes Overstreet, Hall and Elizabeth are all open for boating during most times of the year.
Look for the birding stations across the park. These spaces feature wide open areas where you can see birds in their natural habitats.
Visit the Killearn Plantation district at the Tallahassee, FL park. The old plantation includes a few nineteenth century buildings around the region. Enter the Maclay House that was operated by the owners of the park space in the early twentieth century. Many of these buildings are open for tours although they are only available from January to April.
Be inspired by the plants and trees around the park. Look for azaleas, bald cypress trees and Japanese maple trees. Visit the arboretum to learn more about various plants.
