What are Your Present Home Wants Versus Your Future Needs?

What Do I Need To Buy A House?

What do I need to buy a house before I begin the search?

What are your immediate needs?

Let’s face it buying a home can be an emotional experience, so have a complete picture before you start visiting homes. Start focusing on your current needs, but keep in mind how they will evolve over the coming years.

Location Is A Big Deal

It is important to decide on a neighborhood you really want to live in. If you own a car, and will need to drive to work, the property should be close to a route which is not horrible to get you to work on time. Public transportation might be a major need for you, and having bus or  public transportation stops close to your home might be a major priority. Good schools are always a critical consideration, and allows you to eliminate areas you don’t want to live in. You can check school score levels and college admission requirements to help you make decisions if schools will be a major factor. Keep in mind that this will impact your future home value since a potential future buyer could be looking at how good the school system is in your area.

Ample Space For Everyone

A family of four will usually need a home with at least three or four bedrooms, if not more. Family members who work outside the home may need an office space away from busy areas of the house. If you have a dog, the property should have a fenced yard to allow you to manage your pet without major hassles. Consider all of your housing needs and make a list of needs versus wants before planning to visit homes for sale.

Ask Yourself a Few Questions

What is my current residence lacking?
What are my future home objectives?
What type of home do I like and what features check off all my boxes within my budget?
How many bedrooms and bathrooms do I need presently and will I need to add more as my family grows?

Your home should match the way you live, and have features that which suit you and your family. Before looking at homes, make a list of from your questions above – include things like location and size. Should the house be close to certain schools? Your job? To public transportation? How large should the house be? What type of lot do you prefer? What kinds of amenities are you looking for? Establish a set of minimum requirements or needs and a list of things you want or would like to have, but that aren’t deal breakers. Your needs or requirements are things that a house “must” have for you to consider it, while wants are things that you’d like to have but aren’t essential.
