Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing
Speed on over – or at least come as fast as you legally can – to the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing. This museum and hall of fame in Ocala, Florida is devoted to the history of professional drag racing.
Look at various old drag racing vehicles and see how this competitive racing form has evolved. Check out the cockpits of each vehicle and look at the engines that propel these vehicles to speeds of 200 miles per hour or more. Observe the carefully designed bodies of each vehicle and see how they are curved and arranged to keep drag from being a threat, thus allowing them to go incredibly fast.
After looking at these thrilling cars, walk over to the antique building next door at the Ocala, FL museum. Look at various vehicles from the early and middle twentieth century. These include many traditional cars and a few military vehicles.
See the exhibits honoring many people who have competed in drag racing in the past.
