See the Augusta’s Story exhibit to learn all about how the City of Augusta has evolved over the years. Learn about the prehistory of the city and how natives in the area lived more than 10,000 years in the past. The story highlights many artifacts from an old steam fire engine to many pottery items that were made during the antebellum era.
Explore many stories relating to the great people and activities that make Augusta, GA the distinct city it is today. There is an entire exhibit dedicated to music legend and Augusta native James Brown at the museum. Additional exhibits on the medical history of Augusta and the Medical College of Augusta as well as exhibit about the history of baseball in the city are also included.
Check out the numerous historic vehicles on display at the museum. These include a few old steam-powered vehicles. A 1930s-era gas station has been carefully recreated here as well.
A children’s section is also included here. This features a number of interactive exhibits including one on the space shuttle.
